Professor Christopher Cramer
Christopher Cramer is Professor of the Political Economy of Development at SOAS. He has worked in and on sub-Saharan Africa for more than 20 years, teaching and conducting research, on rural labour markets, commodity processing, and violent conflict
Dr Deborah Johnston
Deborah Johnston is a Senior Lecturer in Development Economics at SOAS, London. She has worked on Sub-Saharan Africa for over 20 years, doing research on rural labour markets, poverty and land.
Dr Bernd Mueller
Bernd Mueller has been the FTEPR project's research officer, a role in which he travelled extensively through rural Ethiopia and Uganda to conduct the project's fieldwork. Currently, he works at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome as Rural Employment Expert. He has extensive research and work experience on labour markets, agricultural value chains, poverty and development, particularly in East Africa.

Dr Carlos Oya
Carlos Oya is Senior Lecturer in Political Economy of Development at SOAS, London. He has lived and worked in Sub-Saharan Africa for several years, doing research, designing and conducting surveys on rural labour markets, poverty and rural capitalism.
Professor John Sender
John Sender is Professor Emeritus of Economics at SOAS. He has designed surveys and conducted fieldwork in many rural areas of Africa and Asia over a period of almost 40 years, usually focusing on the development of labour markets.
Team supervisors
Haileyesus Andualem
Haileyesus has versatile experience in both the private sector and academic research. He worked as production and technical manager for medium and large scale firms in the Ethiopian textile and garment industry. Furthermore, he has worked as enumerator and team supervisor for several socio-economic research projects in Ethiopia.

Muluken Elias
Muluken has a master’s degree in Development Studies. Before joining the FTEPR research project, he has participated in different socio-economic research themes which focus on rural settings in Ethiopia. He also has experience in monitoring and evaluation development projects and programs.

Turinawe Benoni Emmanueil
Turinawe is an experienced researcher and academic who has participated in a wide range of socio-economic research projects in Uganda and beyond. He has worked as assistant researcher at Makerere University and as lecturer at St. Lawrence University, Kampala. Currently, he is pursuing his doctoral studies at the Institute for Social Science Research at the University of Amsterdam.

Bbosa Samuel
Working in freelance capacity, Bbosa is an experienced researcher who has extensively implemented and managed data collection for several research projects in Uganda conducted by various researchers and institutions from different parts of the world.

Tewodros Worku
Before joining FTEPR, Tewodros worked with the Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions as well as the Global Horticulture Workers and Environmental Right Network, focussing on promoting workers' rights in the Ethiopian horticultural sector. He has several years of professional experience in research and advocacy of labour market topics in East Africa.
